Help on exciting project wanted

Dear forum users,

We have an idea and we’re trying to find people that can help us make it real.

Do you trust your newspaper? Your daily news show on TV? The internet? You probably do – most people do. But all news is produced with an agenda. That agenda may be quite innocent, say, to give the users fair, truthful news stories, but it may just as well be to sell more newspapers, get better TV-ratings or attract visitors to a website so more adds can be sold. Face it: News agencies are corporations with other interests than just “the whole truth and nothing but the truth”. They want to make money.

This is a huge challenge for our democracies. The people are in charge – but the people rely on the media. Important topics may never get the correct treatment in the media, maybe because it’s too complicated, maybe because the media don’t bother contacting relevant experts, or because the topics won’t sell newspapers. The commercial nature of the media means that the easy-to-digest news gets a front row seat and more important issues are left untouched. How are the voters ever going to know what they have to know in order to be able to cast a meaningful vote?

Our answer is Wikinews. Let the users help write the news. Let the doctor, the engineer, the policeman, the nurse or the simply interested add comments to news stories to get the full story. Let the people in the hotspots write directly without filter. And make sure the news is trustworthy and up to date with Wiki-technology.

We’re trying to start a revolution, but we need your help. If this sounds interesting to you, please follow this link for more information:

RE: Help on exciting project wanted

not that he'll be back to read replies to his spam, but for people considering this it's been done already. although i'm curious what his agenda is for doing it, if not to attract readers through popular topics to generate advertising revenue. i guess he's just trying to find a source for boring articles nobody cares about, written by biased people with no accountability because they have no bosses and aren't getting paid for it. anyway, just my .02 about joining the media-bashing bandwagon... (communists)

lol

(I really don't understand why people have a problem with news sources only printing articles that sell papers. If the story won't sell papers, it means nobody wants to read it. Why would you want to read an article that nobody wants to read? And why would you expect a business to print something knowing it will lose them business? It's sheer stupidity to act like it is a government conspiracy to control our thoughts. Sheer stupidity...)

Thread moved from 'General Chat' to 'Barter Zone' by tkarkkainen.

Reason: Fits Barter Zone better than General chat, at least.
