Well, if your ISP doesn't support .ico files. Then the question should be - does it necessary need to be an .ico file. I do not know for sure, but as for <meta rel="icon" ..> the png image works just as nice (at least in Mozilla). You just have to specify the type of file you are linking to. Try this, I hope it will help

suddenly my host supports favicons.. odd, but w00t! I WANNA GO HOME AND PLAY WITH IT! ..dang work hours keeping me from play time.

Favicons are NOT considered a general standard yet. In fact, most browsers *are* prepared for them, and if there's a favicon.ico file in the webroot, it displays it. IE5+ looks for it when you add a page to your bookmarks.
You used to be able to make a favicon for free at http://favicon.com/ using their online generator, but it looks like it's gone. Either way, you should defintely use this code in your <head> tags: <links rel="shortcut icon" HREF="http://www.url.com/favicon.ico"> |
