listing in search engine

Hi,

I am a beginner in PHP so this question might be stupid. I've created my site in PHP, but when I search for the tile of my page, it doesn't show up in Google search engine.

I was wondering if there's a function I have to include in my PHP file to let the search engine know about my site?

If not, how do I make my site visible to search engines like Google or Yahoo?

search engines read meta tags, which are client side yah

does this mean I have to define my meta tags? if yes, is there an example on the format?

yah just view the source of this page.. steal matt's meta tags, i'm sure he won't mind
