Need some help with php basics

Hey guys, I'm new to the world of php, but not coding in general... I have a few questions, seems like this would be the place to ask.

I've looked through a bunch of sample codes and found a few things here and there that seems to be what I need, but I can't quite figure out how to make them all work with each other.

If anyone can give me some advice this is what I'm looking to get on the site:

Message Board
Photo Gallery (with user uploading)
Member Downloads
Message board based news on the home page
E-mail

I'd like to have a login on the homepage and most pages throughout the site. That would provide access to all sections of the site.

Thanks in advance =)

RE: Need some help with php basics

If your looking to do all this their aint no real easy way to do it ...

An easy shortcut would be to download codes which people have created and have placed on download sites ... the only problem you'll find with this is many will have their logo or copyright notice somewhere on it ...

If your looking to do logins you will need to learn about cookies and sessions ...

You can find most of the stuff you want in tutorials on this site ... they may not be specific to what you want but do what i do ... use bits which you need and transform the coding to suit your needs ...
