I don't understand what is so hard about judging this contest. Can you please enlighten us why it takes so much time? It would seem rather simple, even if you are sick. I use the computer when I am sick =]

I think the issue is your (plural) impatience, not Zombie's punctuality in judging. Most contests take many months to announce winners, and usually there isn't an open line of communication between the participants and the judge or judges. Maybe instead of whining, you should be discussing and collaborating with your peers about how to achieve the optimal solution to this contest. In the meantime, I am sure that Zombie will deploy every weapon in his fine arsenal in order to complete the judging of this contest (and if he needs help, he can always e-mail me!). Consider yourself lucky, and stop complaining!

Just so you know, I ran the scripts yesterday and sent Zombie unofficial results.

Actually I don't know of any contest which takes a long time to annouce winners, they usually annouce it when they had a reasonable amount of time to judge the submissions. I could understand if there were 100 entires it taking a long time to properly judge them all, but there is only 16. And scoring scripts is a fairly easy and automated process.

I am just eager to see who won and how the results end up. Unfortunatly I didn't even enter this contest =[

Keep in mind also that many judges do nothing but judge, these people have lives, and families, and jobs, and do this out of the goodness of their hearts in their free time. I think patientce is the least we can give them

RE: i hope u r ok now zombie

Out of curiosity, why does it take so long to judge?

You say it is because they have a life/family/job/other demands. I wouldn't argue against that, but can't you just script together a little thing, hit enter, and walk away?

Other contests take months? Ones where you have a judging script, under 20 entries, and it is all done on computer ... it should be instantaneous. Contests here should let you submit a program, have that program execute automatically, and email your score in 5 minutes max. Then you can revise and resubmit.

It's probably going to be January before results are actually submitted. Why? Contest ended in October and results should have been chugged out by the end of the week or certainly by the end of the month.

My guess is that you are plagued with the same problem I am: laziness. I say that there's no time to sweep the deck / clean the gutters / paint the house / etc. In reality, it is because I just don't put aside a time to do it.

And the lesson learned from procrastination: Make longer deadlines. Whats good enough to be done today is good enough to be put off till tommorow.
