Whats the maximum amount of fields a table should have?

Hey Tim,
I don't think there's really a "maximum" number of columns for a table. Really, the issue is in the database design. If you utilize the relational aspect of the RDBMS, performance usually isn't too big of an issue. Read up on something called "3rd Normal Form"...If you strive for that, you should be in good shape. Databases are used to work with mich bigger number of entries.
1 000 000 shouldnt be problem, however you must keep such big database optimized. 10 or 1000 is not big difference for ussuall DB servers. |
