mySQL and phpMyAdmin

Hi,

Has anyone had the following problem (and more importantly is there a solution?!)

I use phpMyAdmin to administor mySQL remotely. I've got the same setup at work as at home - a Linux server running the full works (Apache, PHP, mySQL, SSL, Perl with phpMyAdmin running) and a Windows XP machine for the actual code writting and administration of the database through phpMyAdmin.

I tend to do a stucture and data dump at the end of the day to carry on working at home.

Now there's absolutly no problem at home, however there seems to be an increasing problem at work. First it was one table now it's 5!

I basically cannot browse or query certain tables from the XP machine. All code still runs fine, and I can drop and empty tables etc but when I try to recieve anything from these table the progress bar creeps up in IE6 and then just stops about half way. I can however search for a value on the XP PC in phpMyAdin and find occurances of it within the problem tables - so it can see the data. myODBC also works fine through Access 2k on the XP machine.

There is no problem if I open phpMyAdmin on the actual Linux box itself. This was not originally happening - but it seems to be getting worse.

Any ideas?

J

RE: mySQL and phpMyAdmin

Hmm...I haven't seen that particular problem...the first thing I would do is try upgrading phpMyAdmin to the latest version. It could just be putting out some malformed HTML or something and a newer version could fix that..also try a different web browser on your XP machine...Mozilla would be preferable...

RE: mySQL and phpMyAdmin

Do you know, I spent ages putting the database back together bit by bit to see if any part was tripping out phpMyAdmin (the mySQL version at home is lower than the one at work). I had also already upgraded phpMyAdmin to a newer version - zippo - nada!

Yet I install Mozilla, and low and behold, it works!

*** Point to remember for all coders ***

Microsoft releases 'Service Packs' not bug fixes. Any product produced by a company that doesn't admit to getting something wrong should be the first thing you look at in a problem like this!!!

Thanks again Matt,

J
