phpmyadmin question

okay, i'm positive this is a stupid question, but forgive me, i'm a newbie. my question is, do i have to use the my sql interface that my host provides? i'm with webhost4life and they provide dbtools but i'm not very fond of it. i'd rather be using phpmyadmin, where can i get it and will my host let me use it?

RE: phpmyadmin question

The only stupid question, as I always say, is one not asked.

You can get PHPMyAdmin from http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/

And about your host, you would have to ask them if they will allow you to use that. Or someone else might know around here.

There should be 3 lines such as this
php Code:
Original - php Code
  1. $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type']     = 'config';    // Authentication method (config, http or cookie based)?
  2. $cfg['Servers'][$i]['user']          = 'root';      // MySQL user
  3. $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password']      = 'mypass'// MySQL password (only needed
  4.

they should be lines 82, 83, and 84 in the file. Just change those to your settings and that should do it. For further information check out the official documentation at the phpmyadmin website. (Link in earlier post) It gives good instructions on how to do this.
