Wink MySQL 5 - Spreadsheet to database

Hello! How's life!

- 1st thing: I'm not sure if the category is right. Sorry if it isn't.

I am really struggling with something and wondered if anyone here could help me. I have an excel 2007 spreadsheet with data in it and an ID colum on the far right for each row entry. I also have brand new empty MySQL database that I access using phpmyadmin.

I am looking to create and populate a table in that database with the data from the spreadsheet.

I have been told that it requires scripts? and putty.exe? Is this correct? If so, what scripts and how do you use putty?

Do I need to change the excel spreadsheet (filename.xlsx) to a .sql file?
Does it need to be compressed in a zip?

Any help will be HUGELY appreciated! It's been baffling me for ages and no-one seems to have had the answer thus far.

Best wishes and thanks,

All you should reallly have to do is save the spreadsheet as a CSV file, then import that into your database with phpmyadmin. Putty (SSH Client) is not required for this.

If you need specific steps on how to do this, google "importing csv into phpmyadmin"

Google is your friend..

PuTTY allows you to create remote terminal sessions via various protocols, such as SSH.
