MySQL 4.1 - Update error

Hi,

I am trying to write a basic messaging script, the following piece of code is to update a message once it has been read.

PHP Code:


		
			
include '../System/connections/db.php';    

$username = $_SESSION['username'];

mysql_query("UPDATE mail SET read = 'yes'

WHERE username = '$username'");

                

echo "     This Message has been marked as Read";

now when the script runs i get the echoed message and no erors but the table row doesnt get update, does anybody have an idea.

Any help would be appreciated thanks

echo out the SQL that is being sent and then run it directly on the DB - What does it say?
