Post Counts

I have removed all reference to number of posts from Codewalkers. It seems many recently have been concerned with the number of posts they are making rather than the content. That has never been what Codewalkers is about. Quality is much better than quantity.

So, to slow the rat race down and be sure people aren't just concerned with inflating their post count, I turned it off .

RE: Post Counts

I think it can solve the problem if there was any. I don't read all the posts so I don't know... Without the counter there is no need to post meaningless posts.

Yes, Super Users and Administrators still have it because our duty requires us to still perform tasks on the site.

They got status, But not codewalker titles. Really great decision made by Matt. Slow down the race now!

RE: Post Counts

now that i have thought about the matter i think that only "topics" should be counted and not both "topics" and "replies". This way if non-sense is posted then the topic should be destroyed (i would guess that the admins have that power).

RE: Post Counts

So if someone has lots of problems they get a high post count but if someone has lots of solutions they get no count?

RE: Post Counts

What is the real point of post counts anyway? We're here to give and receive help, not to see who makes the most posts. If I have a problem, I appreciate a helpful post from a first-timer more than a RTFM post from someone who has 10000 posts and thinks he's elite just because of that.

Post counts are baaaaaaad

It won't take Matt too long to display only the name of the user and take off Location and Age. I think this is where its leading up to

RE: Post Counts

This is ridiculous.... nothing but ridiculous.

I don't think we have to disable location etc. tags. Things will settle down by theirselves. An alternative to disabling is to have a list box of countries from which you can select your country.

Also, why have a text box where you can write 'male' or 'female'? These are the only two good answers to that question, a list box would be better IMO.
