Something new!

As you have probably noticed, I wasn't very regular at codewalkers in the last couple of weeks. Other things have taken priority in my life, both personal and professional.

I am aware that codewalkers suffered because of this. That is why I have decided to accept the offer from the Jupitermedia Corp (company behind Internet.com) to join the codewalkers.com into their network of web development sites.

Note that this was not the first offer for codewalkers, but it was by far the most serious one. For example, instead of current codewalkers administrators (we all know what they are like ), Internet.com network has a task force of professional forum moderators that are paid for doing their job without involving personal feelings. That will hopefully bring current flamewars to a minimum.

They approached me because codewalkers.com is not focused exclusively on PHP (like PHPBuilder.com for example). They will try to make codewalkers.com a resource for all web developers, including those developing with Microsoft technologies like ASP and .NET.

That is why I have added these three new forums (Windows Server Administration, ASP and .NET), and more changes are bound to follow. PHP and related OSS technologies will never go away from codewalkers, but Internet.com will focus more on commercial technologies because they have more advertisers interested in those.

But this will not happen all at once. Look for major changes in the next couple of weeks. During that time, you will not see me much around here, but instead Wolfram Schulte and Gavin Bierman from Internet.com, who will be taking over.

matt would never be say something that harsh. he's expressed gratitude for our help on countless occasions, and suddenly we're not professional enough?

i do believe the logo says, resource for "php and sql developers"

RE: Something new!

im happy with the current admins, and the way they add feelin to their responses, it makes the forums more personable. I like the way these forums are. You actually get a response, alot of the other forums ive been to, you ask a simple question and the response you get is 'Google it' or 'Try searching this site here'

Are the current mods still gunna be around and are they still gunna be mods. And is this a complete takeover, is matt still gunna have any power here?

Although this site might change for the better, i am no ready for change as i have become acustomed to such a great site, and i do not wanna lose that, if the site goes downhill...

Although it might become an even more valueble source for us users to further our knowledge in coding......

and all ya'll this was posted on Thursday, October 3 2002 09:17 PM. How come we didn't pick this up until now, Is it an april fools joke, did he prepare it sometime a few years back and stick it onto the boards now?

did i just get reeled in really badly?

Frazz

RE: Something new!

You are too busy so you've sold out to the big guys?

There are easier ways to find time and to settle disputes.

Why do they need to take over? If you join their network, fair enough but to hand over control seems unnecessary and is going too far.

What you are really saying is you've given/sold the site away.

I'm disappointed in you Matt.

RE: Something new!

Now it says Nawlej was the last one to comment but Bondgamer is coming up..... oh please let this be a joke.

BTW, bad dates have nothing to do with this - I PMed Matt about that yesterday and he fixed some threads then.

Seem it has something to do with the forum script.

Codewalkers is not the place for M$ techs.. We love PHP and Codewalkers.. It should be the resource for "php and sql developers"

RE: Something new!

If he wanted to fool us why mess with the date? ... it doesn't make sense... anyway - here if you continue the april fools joke after 12 noon then you are the fool.... so if it was a joke we would know about it by now.

besides - there has been problems with the dates.

1) He might have posted it after 12 noon.
or
2) He didn't want us to get notice of the April Fools day..
or
3) This is not a joke
