RE: another AOL hater

i hear peoplepc is good
netzero (with banners though)

if you are paying the cost of AOL, you would be paying less if you go with DSL through your phone company

RE: another AOL hater

do me a favor, try using the username, password and dial up number for your aol account, and try setting up a connection in your internet options (in your control panel). i want to know if you can connect without using the aol software.

I dont *think* you can do it without using the AOL dialer. I remember trying it back in the day with a plain old dialer connection. It wouldnt handshake for some reason. I think they use some kind of proprietary version of challenge handshake authentication protocol (CHAP).

RE: another AOL hater

ok, notpad, that is what I have been doing now. But!... it will not work if you hav the aol software installed, nawlej.

the thing is, aol does not like it when you dont use there stuff and they'v made a nasty habit of trying to block my ScreenName when i do that. So I hav to keep swiching around
it will however let me go on with their software.

RE: another AOL hater

you could call aol and say you want to cancel your account. they love giving away free hours to try and keep your company (especially now as they're hurting and just recently fired over 700 employees).

otherwise netzero is the most popular. or juno.
