RE: anyone had problems with www.phpwebhosting.com????

I know I recommended them in the other thread, but let me tell you my full experience.....

PHPwebhosting gave me great service throughout the entire time I was with them. They always keep their software up to date and respond to problems very quickly. One downside is that they do not have phone support. If this is important to you, look elsewhere.

The one problem I did have with them was that the server I was on had space problems for about a month. As the day would wear on, and logs would get bigger for all the sites, space would get low. Sometimes it would bottom out and run out of space. It was very annoying. They have assured me that they have rectified the problem, but I was changing hosts anyway. The one thing I would be sure of is that you don't get onto the opie server. Put that in your request when you open an account!

I had two accounts with them, on two different servers. The second account never had space problems. All the space problems were on the opie server. Again, they said they have reallocated some customers so that it is not a problem any more.

All that said, I still recommend them. You can't find hosting this good for the price. Their bandwidth was always readily available and the cpu load was always reasonable...

Ohh..one more thing. The reason I changed hosts was because I needed more flexibility. Now I have a virtual server where I can host as many sites as I wish and I install my own apache, php, etc...

RE: anyone had problems with www.phpwebhosting.com????

thank you much for your time to tell me all this. I know it is valuable.

I just have a little site, I am losing my dial up service and I can't host through my cable provider (well I could but I work for them so I can't!)

SO I have to find alternitive hosting, I do dnot need support except to register problems, so that is not a big deal.

Thank you again for your time.

I will make sure I request not to go on opie.

I've been using PHPwebhosting for about a year now and haven't had any problems at all.

RE: anyone had problems with www.phpwebhosting.com????

Now I am with johncompanies.com. I get 2 gigs of space(this is also for installing applications), and 40 gigs of transfer. When you sign up you get a a virtual server with a very basic install of FreeBSD. Then, you just install what you want. You are responsible for keeping everything up to date and running the day to day operations. It is 65 bucks a month. So far everything has been really good. It is very quick and installs from ports very fast...

They will provide dns support for you if you don't want to run your own bind. You can also submit firewall rules to them for them to put in place...

I was on a reasonable server myself (HagenHosting) and moved to a "Virtual Private Server" which I guess is like or or 2 steps before owning your own server. We can install and run whatever we want. The physical machine is shared with others, but so far it works perfectly. We've had it for about 4 months now. Geographically its very close to where I live which is perfect.

I get mine through a local company (as stated in a post before this). www.aplus.net. Somewhere along that crowded page you should see something that says Virtual Private Servers. Basic account is 35 a month, 5 gigs transfer, and 500 megs. Very cool..

RE: anyone had problems with www.phpwebhosting.com????

I heard good things about this company and liked what I saw on there site. But when I actually went to sign up it turns out the one price plan for $9.95 is NOT TRUE! They tried to charge me 29.99 for a hosting plan that isnt on there site anywhere. I do require almost 1GB of space for my site so its large but to claim to offer more free space as needed without charge is absolutely not true in my expierince.
