RE: featured books

I have read the following:

MySQL & mSQL
O'Reilly & Associates; ISBN: 1565924347; 1 Ed edition (August 1999)
WORST BOOK EVER!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!

MySQL
New Riders Publishing; ISBN: 0735709211; 1st edition (December 28, 1999)
This was the first "real" book that I found. I enjoyed every bit of this book. I remember I bought this because it had both the C api and PHP api. I would recommend it but of course it is a little out of date.

PHP and MySQL Web Development
Sams; ISBN: 0672317842; 1st edition (March 30, 2001)
Good book. I dont think I learned anything out of it but it did solidify what I knew and it is good for a reference with examples.

PHP Developers Cookbook
Sams; ISBN: 0672323257; 2nd edition (December 13, 2001)
Its a cookbook, you don't really read it. However the examples are good. This was a freebie to add to my growing collection.

MySQL by New Riders was what really got things going for me. I haven't purchased a book about PHP since my 3rd book and now I find the manual the best resource along with sites like this.

RE: featured books

I have read "PHP By Example" this was my first ever PHP book and it is was really good. Not very in depth, but it taught me all the basics and was very user friendly..
