frames
So do you use frames for your web pages?
I personally don't (never particularly liked the various scroll bars). By using CSS and a decent site map I have always been able display things the way I want and provide the user with easy to find information - but then I admit - I am NOT a designer (suck massively at it actually). |

RE: frames
there is very little reason to use frames anymore. At one time frames had a purpose in that you could avoid reloading portions of your pages that were going to be consistent from page to page and thus speed up the load times of the pages when many people were on 14.4 or 28.8 modems. It always had some inherent issues with linking back to a particular page as well as being less than optimal from an aesthetic standpoint but now that mostly everyone is on faster connections of at least 56.6 if not broadband and bandwidth is less of a concern one of frames positives carries less weight.
The only exception to this might be iframes which certainly allow some design options that wouldn't be available without them. I personally use frames in less than 5% of the sites I build. |

RE: frames
i stopped using frames years ago, and put them in the same category as the blink tag. they might be useful for a chatroom like program, or a hidden refresh, but... it's about time someone came up with a more effective way to write a script like that anyway.
