The dot in the centre represents the rose, the dots around that centre dot represent petals. Only the 1, 3 and 5 have a centre dot and the 1 has no 'petals', the 3 has 2 'petals' and the 5 has 4 'petals.
So you add 2 for every dice showing a 3 and 4 for every dice showing a 5
