Question How do I calculate how many months are left for my hosting?

How do I calculate how many months are left for my hosting?

Let's say I pay R6 a month for hosting.
I pay R6 x 12 months for hosting = R72

Say I paid on the 25/01/2005 that will last me for a year until 25/01/2006.
Some were paid on different dates, now for the fun part:

I now take look at my spreadsheet and would like to know who's hosting ends on what date? this part has got me stumped
Even if this is a stupid question, please shed some light on it for me.

Cheers

Like it says in my post,
I look at my spreadheet "excel"

The fact that icandothat asked me the odd question is probably what confused you.

I am using a spreadheet, but if you have a different method then please share it with me in order for me to understand this better.

Cheers

How is your spreadsheet formatted? column names and values for instance. Do you have the start dates listed in your spread sheet - or the end dates? need all the pertinent info otherwise it is one big blur.

Column name:
Hosting fee = R6

Column names:
Date | Amount Paid | Months left

Row data:
Date = 11 September 2007
Amount Paid = R100
Months left = Hosting - Amount paid

Hope it makes sense.

what the hell was odd about my question? how do you plan on using PHP in an excel spreadsheet? dingus. furthermore asp is not a language.

regardless of language
figure out how much they paid.
figure out how much one day costs
subtract the day they paid from today to determine how long since they paid
multiply that by how much one day of hosting costs
subtract that from how much they paid
when you get 0 you know they owe you money.

LOL - where is the fun in that. Much rather spend an hour writing up and researching an answer - only to find someone else did it further down below the threshold level... Nothing learned is ever wasted - least that is what I keep telling myself.

Thumbs up

It seems that there is tension on this thread, odd?
It's a simple question, yet miscommunication is a big thing nowadays

Thank you for your help here.
It seems that I understand it much better now.

The oddness of the question: which language?
when I specifically said spreadsheet meaning excel or similar.

I am glad that you were able to help me understand this better, thanks again.

Cheers

With regards to your helpful answer, I came up with this:

Code:
Hosting = R6
Choice of hosting = 3, 6 or 12 months

Works out to this:
Hosting choice = 12 *(multiply by) Hosting fee = R6
Totals: R72

R72 - (minus) R6 for each month "not day"
Totals will run down along the months till it totals 0 (Zero)

Now you owe me money :)
