Introduction

Hello CodeWalkers,

My name is Alex Stanford, I'm 18 years old, living in Toledo, Ohio. I've been coding XHTML/CSS for 6-7 years off and on. I was recently hired as a front end developer.

Since then, I've decided to start making taking the step towards back end development. I've decided to start with PHP. I bought the SitePoint PHP book and just began reading.

I noticed this forum was conducted much like I enjoy a forum, so I've decided to see how I like it here. I've been a long time SitePoint fan, and liked TalkFreelance before it was sold.

That's where I stand, just wanted to get myself known.

Kind Regards,
Alex Stanford

Figured I'd hijack your hello thread to introduce myself. So hello one and all, and welcome to the original poster!

My real name is Alan but once upon a time I found the idea of a postmoderngoblin rather amusing so used it a while as a username of choice. These days I prefer izombieyou - hence the avatar.

Thing is - something like 5-6 years ago I got a work placement at university and they wanted me to learn php and use it for a project and I found codewalkers to be a really very helpful place for just about anything I could want, tutorials, specific problem advice or just a place to blow off a little steam. The project lasted 6 months, got turned down and I've not really been back to php - or this site since. So I figured I'd best re-introduce myself.

Except for now I'm doing anything and everything vaguely tech related in a new job for a small start up company and the time has come that I need to do more than just tweak some pre-written code here and there. Now I need to develop a bit of software from new for the first time in many years. So I came back here and I'm very happy to see the site is still going strong and even more chock full of goodies.

Which is just as well given how incredibly rusty all my skills are.
