Is there anythig I can do?
Ok, I'm a bit peeved at the moment...
Here's my situation. In january, I released the source code to one of my projects, "phpTocLib", the link is in my signatre. Now, I check my email today, and I see a class update from phpclasses.org, sporting this http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/package/1706.html Now, looking through it, I see the code is quite familiar... The functionality, and alot of the code was taken from my library it appears. So, can someone take a look at the 2 packages, and tell me if there is enough similarity for me to do anything about it... Or if this is just in the nature of the world of open source... (If you do look, check the CVS source, not the released one for mine).... So ya, please let me know what (if anything) I can do |

RE: Is there anythig I can do?
The first thing I would do is contact the author of the one on phpclasses. Ask him to kindly give you credit where credit it due.
If he doesn't give you credit where it is due, then I would contact each and every place that he has the code hosted and inform them that it is a violation of the LGPL and that they immediately remove the code. I think that you will find they will do it. I know that Manuel Lemos will (if you have trouble, let me know and I will talk with him).... |
