Perl

Hi, I just started learning perl, and I can't find any good online tutorials. If anyone knows of any good ones, please let me know. I'm learning from the ground up, so basics isn't a bad thing. If not, I'll just keep stumbling upon solutions to my problems as they come up.

Thank you.

RE: Perl

I don't know any perl, but people who use Python have told me that it is much simpler than perl which is pure pain. And now that I know Python I can honestly say it isn't too difficult but it is still a very powerful language.

For server side www scripting I still use PHP though ;)

Perl is money in the bank. I have been messing with Perl for a long time now, and once you get used to doing it right, its not a big deal. I keep 3 references onhand, all by O'Reilly:

Programming Perl
Perl Cookbook
Advanced Perl Programming.

If you dont have it, I suggest the Perl CD bookshelf, which is a CD with all of the above on it. I, however, prefer hardcopy for some strange reason.

RE: Perl

$ man perl

Oh yeah and the O'Reilly Perl Cookbook is great for a reference!

I tend to get a 'How to Code x' and then some kinda cookbook reference book. 'How to code X' is toilet reading material and the reference book will just sit at the side of the computer until i need it.
