Search Engine Promotion, still good like before?

It seems as google is not reading meta tags correctly, I changed the tags in my web site about 2 weeks ago, and google still doesnt change my homepage description!
Well, I started this topic because I would like to hear some opinions about this, whats your search engine strategy? (Paying google.com so you get in the sponsored box? ;) )

RE: Search Engine Promotion, still good like before?

Well, google updates its listings about one a month (really about every 28 days, its on a lunar cycle). Google normally doesn't care about meta tags. The description you see in google is going to normally be from one of 2 places. Either it is a snippet of text off your website or it is the description from dmoz.org about your site.

Search engine stategy?
1. Keywords in the title, heading tags, and hyperlinks.
2. Back links. People need to link to you. People that deal with the same kind of content need to deal with you.
3. Content. If you don't have decent content, you aren't going to get good search engine listings.

Basically, it comes down to building a site that people want to see. If people like it, normally search engines will.

D1NGO, if you are talking about the site in your profile, it is in google. Check this search out:

http://google.com/search?q=site:sch...chooliez%2Ecom+

Who you host with should not matter at all when it comes to search engine listings. You might not be searching for the right keywords. What keywords do you want your site to show up in google for? I also highly recommend getting a listing at dmoz.org as it will help your PageRank, which can help your listings....
