Server rooms

I found an article about the server room of a computer magazine. Here are some details:

There are
- almost 100 servers
- about total of 40 GHz of processors
- over 4000 leds as signal lights
- about 10 km of various cables
- power consumption of about 400 light bulbs
- a 42kW cooling system
- several tens of broken hard drives in the past 4 years
- 4662 html pages
- 19231 image files
- 13000 dowloadable driver files
- 65375 other downloadable files

Here's some numerous details. Note that they're from a magazine that's dated 11/2001 so there are some more files nowadays. Some translations may be poor but I just basically want to ask how common is a server system of this size.

RE: Server rooms

Obviously the size of the server room would be representative of whatever the host was trying to accomplish. The server clusters that house the Battle.net game servers for Blizzard are of equivalent size to what you posted, but they have these 'clusters' located all over the world.

Even the server room where I work houses 10 servers, probably with a total of 35GHz between them with two huge coolant systems, redundant battery backups (to provide power between the time the power goes out and the generator starts), gas generators, monitoring stations, etc.

RE: Server rooms

The sever room I wrote about hosts one computer magazine's web site and the magazine's readers' home sites. Each reader gets 50MB of free space with php support.

The most popular service provided by the site is price tracking. It tracks the prices of different web markets. In a year the users of this service clicked links to the web markets' sites over 1,500,000 times!
