here's a thought.. what would happen if you tried to setup the sub-domain "www"? would it be rejected?

"normalsub".mydomain.com
"www".mydomain.com

It all depends on how you have your web server set up..take apache for an example..I have www.codewalkers.com as an alias of codewalkers.com. I could easily have codewalkers.com and www.codewalkers.com be two different websites pointing to two different physical directories on the disk.

So to answer, sure it is no problem..just would confuse alot of people

First thing you need to do is point the new subdomain to your IP via DNS, or have your domain wildcarded...

Then it depends on your server...for apache, just add another virtual server entry and put all the subdomain info in there...

If your interested in a quick tutorial on virtual domains let me know. I could also give you a quick DNS. DNS can be tricky I run my own DSN and learned the hard way.

I am writing a Quick DNS tutorial now. It should be posted by tomorrow. Matt is going to post it in the Tutorial Section. I will leave a note here once it is up. After that I will do the virtual domain one next.
