this is interesting..
I've been doing a little research..
Title 14: Aeronautics and Space Sections 1200-1299: National Aeronautics and Space Administration Section 1211: [reserved] "Files labeled "reserved" can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). These files are being held by the issuing agency and are not yet available on GPO Access. Issuing agencies have the right to reserve titles, parts, subparts, and so forth. Upon release, the information will be made available on GPO Access. Please contact the issuing agency for further information regarding these files." - source: http://www.gpoaccess.gov/cfr/ On 16 July 1969, the same day Apollo 11 was launched from Kennedy Space Center (an undertaking which would -- if successful -- see men set foot on a celestial body other than Earth for the first time in the history of mankind), the United States adopted Title 14, Section 1211 of the Code of Federal Regulations, since known as the "Extra-Terrestrial Exposure Law." Title 14, Section 1211 did not make it "illegal" for "U.S. citizens to have any contact with extraterrestrials or their vehicles" as rumors may imply; it simply required those who had such contact to submit to a quarantine at the request of the government. The "Extraterrestrial Exposure" law was removed from the CFR in 1991, NASA having determined that it had "served its purpose" and was "no longer in keeping with current policy," and is no longer in force. According to the government, the law was implemented as a precaution to prevent the lunar travelors from introducing unknown microorganisms or germs into our environment upon their return. Many others believe, however, that this is just a coverup of being caught in a lie, in which the government denies the knowledge of aliens. What do YOU think? |

Well some people say that man didnt land on the moon, Which i do beleive we did land on the moon. i dont think a government should hide the fact that extraterestrials exist if they knew they did but like any government they are prone to lying.

RE: this is interesting..
yea i'm just thinking it's a poor excuse, personally. i mean why not have the astronauts sign wavers, saying they'll subject themselves to quarantine, rather than making it a "law" ..not to mention the law only applied to U.S. citizens, what about foreign countries who were also into space travel? they could still visit our country but the law wouldn't have applied to them.
of course with all the technology we have and eyes looking out to space, it's also hard to believe that the government can see anything that the rest of us can't. *shrugs* i dunno why i brought it up. |

RE: this is interesting..
I think this indicates the ridiculous inefficiencies in such a large bureaucracy rather than a massive cover-up. The people that make laws, policies, etc. feel they have to make laws, policies, etc. They think that's their job. Unfortunately, the modus operendi is to make laws the legislatures want rather than to create laws that society needs and repeal laws society no longer needs.
Have you seen the custom's form the Apollo astronauts filled out? Kind of funny. |
