... you don't eat n00bs do you? o.o

Hello. I'm a 21 year old MultiMedia major in a tech college, specializing in web development. I've been studying PHP on my own for several years now but not seriously. I mostly reverse-engineer other people's code (And leave their name in the credits. I'm no theif) but I'm seriously thinking of stepping out on my own and writing my own code from scratch. I've been looking around for a good place to get advice and help if I need it and this looks like a good place.

So. Um. Hi. ..o.o

na... it's illegal if its something where your not supposed to have access to the source code... like a .exe file that isn't open source... php files are the source code so it's kind of a moot point for them..

Wrong....open source or not, if its copywritten, or that property has been explicitely stated to not be reproduced without permission, its still illegal.

It all depends on the license... But there is nothing wrong with disecting other peoples code

--;

I am no theif. I only used code that was free or open for editing and I always left the orginial credits it. And I only used this code for personal sites, I've never re-posted anyone's code without permision.

I state again, if it has been explicitely stated. I believe the license would cover whether it can be reproduced or not. I agree, there is nothing wrong with disecting code, but you should still respect the wishes of the author. Like the original poster said, she gives credit wherever due, thats an extremely good, yet rare thing nowadays. SOmething I respect a lot.

Again, welcome aboard, we're glad your a part of our growing community
