[Blackjack] 5 Cards = win ?
Hi again ;)
Isn't there a black jack rule that if you can 'collect' 5 cards and not getting over 21 you allways win the game? Except the dealer has a real black jack (10 + A | K | Q | J)??? |

Well, as it happens very rarely, I thought it would just complicate things needlessly...

Say what? Is this Blackjack or xs0jack? Ridiculous for you to create/impose your own rules.

Whatever..
So it's OK that double is optional (and it can be used every hand), yet this is a real disaster, even though it will happen perhaps once in the whole contest. Who's ridiculous here? I hate trolls... |

I checked several blackjack sites and no one mention this, so called, 5 card rule.

The only useful rules I found on the blackjack sites is the same as in the contest. (The only plus is the insurance rule. However the usage of this rule is never recomended. So this could be skipped.)
The doubling, splitting and surrender and soft17 rules applicability is left to the casinos' discretion. In my oppinion the current rules are very correct and complete. |

I think the biggest rule difference is the fact that a dealer can bust after you bust and that makes it a tie.

We create/impose our own rules on every contest. This is no different than before. Anyway, what difference does it make? You are playing with the same rule set everyone else is. Well, most likely you aren't playing anyway. It seems the complainers normally never send in a submission. |

It's called a "Five-card Charlie," and is very rarely used in casinos because it decreases the house edge by 1.46%. It is often used in games among friends or games not for money though.
"A 'five card Charlie' is an automatic winner on any five card hand that has not busted. This rule does not apply after splitting or if the dealer has a blackjack. A few days in 1999 Binion's Horseshoe offered this generous rule (I was fortunate to be there at the time)." (source: http://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/) |

Not altogether true. If you're playing basic strategy, you should never take insurance. With most counting systems, a high count indicates that you should take insurance, though (because a high count will indicate that the deck is ten-rich). |

I've been reading up on blackjack (go figure), and it seems that there is no offical casino version of blackjack. Each house decides which rules to apply. Looks like Codewalkers is the house here. |
