[Blackjack] Maximumbet money?

it says that when u call a function you're not allowed to, you lose maximumbet money? shouldn't that just be 'money' in general?

No..the penalty is the maximum bet allowed for that game.

In that case, can the MakeBet function return the current maximumbet as well. The only way to get that value is by starting the game.

Correct and the maximum bet will remain the same throughout the entire game. Since it will not change, I don't see a reason to supply it each time.

[Blackjack] RE: Maximumbet money?

so when it says 'it will be the same, except you'll have less money' it doesn't mean you have less money, that you can put less money in?

No, it means you must still do a legal move, even if you tried to play an illegal move. So, if you're supposed to play MakeBet(), but keep on calling PlayStand(), you'll run out of money (because of the penalties), as the game will never continue. To put it another way - illegal calls are ignored, but you lose points for each of them.

[Blackjack] RE: Maximumbet money?

Both xs0 and I are saying the same thing. Let me recap it.

Game starts and maximumbet is $25.
You have $1000.
You MakeBet() and bet $15. You now have $985.
You MakeBet() again (illegal move) - you lose $25. You now have $960.
You PlaySplit() (no split to play - illegal) - you lose $25. You now have $935.
You PlayStand(). Your cards=15, dealer=18. You lose your bet and don't win any money, so you still have $935.
etc.

[Edited by xsO, sorry Matt - after placing a bet your balance is less]

[Blackjack] RE: Maximumbet money?

Wow. a nice night of sleep really helps.

the way it seemed in the description made me think the actual maximum bet you were allowed to make was decreasing, but if i'm getting it now, you're saying that your total money will decrease by the value of maximumbet...

wow... i was tired.
