[Blackjack] Newbie question

I'm very very new to all this php stuff but found this contest interesting so now i'm trying to figure out how php works in 24 hours and get a solution to hand in by tomorrow. I guess the only question i have for now is how do i run the sample program(miniplay.php)?

Matt, I think we need an extra menu - come here to learn sorta thing. I'll put my oar in and tutor a bod or three

Two answers to one question...

You can't learn PHP in 24 hours. The fact that you're in this forum though makes it apparent that you're serious about it. It needent cost you a penny.

I'd guess you're a teen, y'know - us old fogies have some darn good adviace available, all you gotta do is ask us

Start simple, build on that. Summat stupid like a calculator or whatever (very easy to program)

As for the contest, I suppose I could spoil it - OK - just send in miniplay. You're unlikely to win #1 (the best of us have spent a while on doing this) but you may well get summat nice

One last comment - sign up to the site, it's free and unless we know who you are we can't asnwer your quwations proper; - click that thing in the top left

[Blackjack] RE: Newbie question

start off by telling us some more information about you. what operating system are you using? do you have a server program? do you have php downloaded/installed on your computer? etc.

if you are using windows and you have nothing, start by downloading the php binary(http://www.php.net/downloads.php) and a web server. bad blue (http://www.badblue.com) is a REALLY easy one to get started with. install both and copy miniplay.php and blackjacklib.php to the web server directory and open up your browser, go to http://localhost and then find miniplay.php and click. it should run.

[Blackjack] RE: Newbie question

Wrong concept

I was helping out a geezer the other day who hardly new HTML - the tutes are OK if you've got some basic knowledge but if you're clueless your screwed

I'm thinking sdummat like PHP for Dummies. We can each write a little of it.

We'll help a huge number of people by doing so. It'll look great on our resumes too <g>
