Can you explain what the two figures in front of our names are, and confirm that the guy at the top of the list wins 1st, the guy second in the list is 2nd, etc.?

Thanks

P.S. - I was expecting to do badly, but not this badly! :-)

Sorry...the first number is your script number and the second one is the total amount of cash you had at the end of all rounds. And, yes, they are in order of winning.

Looks like it! Well done, congratulations, etc. I'll just have to do better next time and see if I can get a prize.

Looking at your code, it looks like you took a very different approach to the "perfect" Blackjack play, so I'd be interested in reading comments about what you were doing and how you went about it.

Again, congratulations. Until next month, when I shall return to triumph over all of you! MUAHAHAHAHAHA! <poof of smoke, and he's gone>

Thanks.
Well my approach actually is supposed to be mathematical perfect black jack play, due to infeasable computing cut off when it wont change the result alot more.
Anyway only based on one hand playing.

[Blackjack] RE: Results

I would like to complain about being disqualified. My script (nr. 27) as found on the ftp server is not the same as the script I sent in for the contest. It looks like some text editor put in some extra newlines and exlamation marks. Of course, this breaks my script.
I tested my script on my own server and I don't think there's anything in the contest rules to base my disqualification on.

YES, I know my script contains a line of about 120.000 characters,
YES, I know that's out of the ordinary,
YES, I would have altered my script if the rules had said a line should not exceed 990 characters.
NO, my own server didn't have any problems running the script,
NO, I didn't expect my script to be altered before judging.

This is the first time I entered in the competition, and I put in a great deal of time and effort to send in a script with an original approach, and acceptable results. It was a lot of fun to do, and I'd like to know how my script did compared to others.

Woo SECOND PLACE!

Zulan beat me by 200 dollars!?!?! Wow, that is a tight finish, I'll get you next time Zulan, and your little DOG too! I'd hoped to do well, but didn't think I'd come this close.

Now I'm off to ask for a raise at work: See boss, not only is my PHP code awesome, it's award winning! Or not.

Great match man... Gotta have a closer look on your code.

Oh well, I didn't do that great.. If anyone wants to figure out why my odds function wasn't working correctly then they can feel free to look at my code #11. And tell me if they figure it out

It seems that deck 710 was really harsh for a lot of scripts :/
Can you put the "real" blackjacklib.php on the ftp also so we can see why?

I curious about Zack's 30->32 entries. Did each use different logic for determining hit/stand/etc or was there more at work?

Each of my scripts used the same betting strategy, but each had a different game play strategy for hitting, standing, etc.

For example, the first two would only hit and stand (the second had a more advanced strategy), while the third implemented splitting and doubling. In the end, I couldn't determine which one was a better performer, so I send in all three.

I was just checking your script and it is not the !n only the problem. I stripped them.. got the 129k line but there is a ) to much at a very wrong place... No way to fix for me... was very curyous at your results aswell and I did an easy testing script using the input files... If you could put up your script somewhere zipped?

Regards Zulan

Well, congrats to the winners!

My script didn't do great (as predicted) but that's ok. It was fun, and I can say I came in the top 20, heh. I'm looking forward to the next contest, I hope I'll have more time to work on that one.
