Hi, just wondering what browser you will be using to view our entry. I've been using Netscape 6.0 and it looks really good, but it dosn't look good at all in netscape 4.0... so I was just wondering

RE: Browser
I like to use the newest features available.. of course many users don't update their browsers so sometimes all they see is a mess

RE: Browser
I develop with Galeon (or Mozilla, at work - same diff). I code to standards (http://w3.org) and later add support for IE6 and Netscape 4 (both of which offer miserable standards compliance). This method of development makes sure your site will render properly in browsers of the future and other often-ignored browsers (i.e., Konqueror and Opera), while encouraging browser developers to support standards also (since your site will look good from the get-go).
In my last project I actually never bothered with Netscape 4. Without support for that you can ditch depreciated HTML (i.e., FONT tags) and keep your style seperate from your content with CSS. IE's CSS support is horrible, but still way better than FONT tags and having a TABLE tag a mile long. To any developers: Your best friend is http://validator.w3.org. Use it early and often in any project. |
