Counting number of steps?

I just wanted to be sure I'm counting the number of steps correctly. If you have like

SxxxxxE

that would be counted as 6 steps, right? ( I guess you could look at it as having 5 steps between Start and End square)

Interesting project. I'm enjoying working on it.

It would be number of steps to arrive on the E. In your example, it would be 6 steps....
