I really like it so far. (I have been using it at work since last November). Cheers, Keith. |

RE: Lame Prizes -Php Editor Actually-
My favourite php editor is UltraEdit
And, like Vi it's not php-only compliant off course. |

RE: Lame Prizes
I tried ultraEdit and found it quite good, almost switched to it.. but i couldn't find folding.. I loved the fact that it would load with the approx speed of notepad.

RE: Lame Prizes
I own a copy Ultraedit as well, but I don't use it because it doesn't make variables inside of double quote " strings stand out like phpEdit does. Plus phpEdit has code completion, and a debugger, etc... a more rounded php development tool in my opinion.
But UltraEdit does rock for alot of things Cheers, Keith. |

RE: Lame Prizes
I was converted from UltraEdit (and EditPlus) to gvim, and I'll never look back. I've also converted a coder friend of mine - he simply wouldn't dream of using UltraEdit again after he's gotten used to this.
Full customization. Scripts. Variables. Registers galore. Code completion. EXCELLENT help. Splitting windows. Great diff view. Shift-K is also sweet if you're editing C (not to mention :make and :cope). Great search-and-replace through regular expressions. "Visual mode" has no competition from any other editors. And of course the #1 feature: No unnecessary keystrokes. You simply never use the mouse, and your fingers stay right where they belong. You edit faster than with anything else since you don't press as many keys. Also works beautifully as "view source" editor if you're using Galeon or Internet Explorer or the countless other browsers that let you define your own editor. After the initial learning curve (which is very steep but well worth it), the only problem is that you start typing :wq when you're editing a Word document or an e-mail... people get confused ;) :wq |

RE: Lame Prizes
It's really just a matter of preference.. download some editors and try them out till you find something that suits you..
Either that or stick to notepad if ur comfortable ;) |

RE: Lame Prizes
I'm a hard core notepadder.
Sometime, I'm going to write my own editor, becuase none have my featues: 1) Fast and simple - zero overhead. 2) Supports 32k+ text 3) Auto-tabbing - boy I miss that one. |

RE :: Editors
------------- :wq my foot! I thought you said you don't use unessesary keystrokes in vim! Well hows this for a secret. Try Hey aren't there any emacs guys going to step in and give a shout? It would be nice to have somebody who actually has a case to argue. The debate between windows editors is silly. I hear emacs can be pretty killer, but I know vim so well and I know very few people who have made the jump to learning emacs. RE :: klondike project ---------------------- Did anybody try outputing this contest useing multi-part image headers so that the game could be watched in animation style instead of fifty different moves all drawn out on a page? I started working on it but didn't have enough free time inside the competition.... $this->author = "Caleb Maclennan" $author_contact = array( 'email' => 'caleb@chiefworks.com' , 'url' => 'http://metatagreport.com'); |

RE: Lame Prizes
There are hundreds if not thousands of editors that are fast, support 32K+ text and auto-tabbing.
