Letter usage

Matt,
In the following rule:
Quote:
Also below is the number of times you are allowed to use a certain letter

Am I assuming correctly that when you say "number of times", you are referring to number of times on a particular board, and not the number of times the letter can be used in the resulting words?

I figured it this way, because if you total the number of usages (113), then you cannot have 120 maximum possible solutions.

Also, I know you are busy, and appreciate the time you have put into this site and these contest, but when you get a chance can you put a link to a sample word file so we can test the scripts. Or could someone else make a script that randomly generates a word file and you would certify that this is how the file should look. Volunteers anyone?

Thanks

RE: Letter usage

It is number of times per a board...

As for a sample word file...it should be simple enough to create. Just place 500 to 5000, three to six letter words in a file with a newline after each word....

RE: Letter usage

About the words file, I like to use "/usr/share dict/words"

This is The Words File, trust me.

You can filter it to get only words up to 6 letters, of course.

For the Crossword contest, I took random words from it. That gives pretty results.

Also, for tons of words id different languages, check http://packages.debian.org/unstable/text/ispell.html

RE: Letter usage

There are point values for letters A-Z only, so there shouldn't be any other.
Btw does it matter if I use uppercase or lowercase letters?

From the rules:
Quote:
All words in the input file will be in all uppercase letters.
