My & Other results

I'm interest results from others(time, moves, solvable...)
My results on default maze.txt:

1. Solved, Moves: 81, Time: 5.05 sec
2. Not Solved, Time: 6.07 sec

...and my own test maze.txt file(one line "x 15 14 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1")
Solved, Moves: 22, Time: 10.82 sec

I got 81 moves for the first one too.

I used way more than 22 moves for the second puzzle you mentioned. Actually I think you made a typo just as maze.txt = puzzle.txt.

Yes, I also mistake number of moves in third example.

I don't think it is appropriate to discuss number of moves here. The number is the primary factor for winning.

It might encourage some people to put a lot more effort in their code and discourage others from submitting theirs.

we (they) are not discussing solutions or algorithms, only results..

I am not affraid of losing. It is just a friendly contest.

But other contestants might react against their instinct if they see some disturbing results like:

122 moves in 2 seconds
- optimise for speed

120 moves in 30 seconds
- optimise for moves

90 moves in 100 msecs
- give up?

I have to agree with Annuca, if people think that they have no chance of winning, then they wont bother to enter (which is bad for the contest as a whole). Also any time given is meaningless, as it all depends on what machine you are running it on.

For instance I might say that I did your third example in 104 moves taking 0.014 seconds to work it out.

a) I might be making this up to try and put other people of from entering.

b) You have no idea if I'm running it on a P90 or a 2.4G PIV.
