RE: next contest

I think it is safe to say that you will be getting a lot more entrants than you had on previous contests. A lot more people know about it now...

RE: next contest

I hope Matt has a plan for handling the increasing number of entrants. Otherwise the time between contests is only going to get longer and longer.

RE: RE: next contest

i was thinking exactly the same! there should be 2 day pause at most, between deadline for one, and posting a text of a new contest, if we (matt) want to have 2 contests per month.

matt would need an assistant if he plans to achieve this! i would volunteer (i found this job to be very interesting when i was testing scot’s and my script), but that would live me out of contest, and i am hoping to win one, and get a "php addict" t-shirt! (i was so close the last time)

RE: next contest

Maybe a contest to help the process of marking and testing?

Maybe assistants should get a prize just once as consolation for helping out and voiding themselves from the competition.

Or .... if there were enough assistants, then you could say help out with 3 and partipate in one and not help out with that particular one, and repeat that cycle.

Just suggestions

RE: next contest

If you say so. It was just a suggestion in order to keep the contests moving.

I dont see why the next contest released while the previous one is being marked.

RE: next contest

There seems to be a lot taken for granted here. I for one find the speed with which Matt even answers the posts in the forums noteworthy. Many ecommerce sites don't hold a candle to it. Let's not start whinging on about the time taken for scoring and results and next contest and maybe we could have a prize for this and that etc. etc.
This (if you have read other posts) is Matts hobby, it could soon turn out to be a chore for him if we don't back off a little.
He arranges the compo's and prizes, all for our benefit. I am looking forward to the next challenge as much as anyone, but lets give the man a little space shall we?.

...rant over

now if anybody wants me, I'll be over there on the edge of my seat.

RE: next contest

Thanks all for the suggestions. I appreciate them. And yes, you are correct that if the amount of entries keeps increasing dramatically that I won't be able to handle it. I am working on something to counter measure that. This isn't the first time I have been asked this, or thought about it Anyway, just thought I'd drop a quick note to let y'all know that I am still working on the submissions and the next contest. Real life has been rather busy recently. Anyway, they will both be done soon. Thanks for your patience

RE: next contest

Annoymous, (the one 2 messages back), this wasn't meant to be anything along the lines of flaming Matt. If you read it all, it's generally a lot of anticipation for the next contest. It's also suggestions on how the contest and timing can be made better for future entrant loads.

This site seems to be getting a lot of attention now that it's advertised on php.net.
