We will know before too long, I'm sure. We can all do with a bit of a break. Matt usually has a new contest ready pretty soon after the winners are announced, so give him time to organise that too.

Matt, how goes the judging? How many entries are there? I'm not trying to rush you, I'm just curious.

It isn't coming along yet. Life just keeps getting in the way. I am sorry folks, but I will have it done soon.

13 entries for the contest.

2 entries that I have no idea why I got them.
One of them is for a "Handy XP Style Menu". The other is an image someone was submitting for a photoshop contest. Strange...

Oke these are the results of my judging script.. all teh files are @ http://oase.uci.kun.nl/~meerten/celmis/numbers/

the server should be very fast but the time script times out...

the numbers in the table are the number of solutions the script returnd if it says 0 it means (most of teh time ) that the script timed out or got an error

i dont think they are correct because of the fast server ill run it on my own computer later tonight.

Varan

wow, in this results i'm 4th!
I supposed to arrive fourth it the scripts submitted were 5-6 =) So my random-driven script works fine!

the input lines are random-generated?
Did you put special cases, like identical input lines, easy ones (2,4,8,16,32,64,128)... ?
(i taked a look to the files, but they are boring to read)

Hi!
I was just wondering : the best script found 926 solutions when the second best only found 167 of them... Does that mean that the first script is perfect or that it generates a lot of redundancies?

EDIT: That's what I thought: The 1st script generates a lot of redundancies... Sorry for the author... ;)

Varan,

Your input file 5.txt contains a duplicate value on the first line (42 is used twice). The contest rules specifically state that there will be no duplicates in the input file - you will no doubt be getting false duplicate equations from this.

Other than that ... thanks for the posting of your test results.

I noticed that the time php file times out on your web server, so you're not getting enough time for the scripts. I think my script (#6 I think) just generates warnings or something and that's why it gets 0. Dang.
