[Risk] Rule discussion
Hi!
I guess there are several people having comments on the current set of rules for this contest... At least I have a comment ;-) Suggestion: Terminate game after a given number of rounds. When fiddling with the judge-script I saw that there was a possible draw situation. Neither party attacks the other one(s) and the game would simply not end. So I suggest stopping the game after a certain number of rounds and rank the scripts based on the number of armies on the board. Any comments? CU maxhb |

[Risk] More rounds
Hi!
I would like to have more rounds per round because I guess that the outcome of a single round is not only based on the given distribiution of lands but on the order of scripts, too. Suggestion: -Each script play each of the 4 given land distribiutions and each permutation of the other players should be considerd, too. E.g.: A - B - C - D A - B - D - C A - C - B - D A - C - D - B ... D - A - B - C D - A - C - B Making a total of 24 games per round. CU maxhb |

[Risk] RE: Rule discussion
I don't think there will be tied games. After all, it is in script's best interest to conquer as many territories as possible, and also in the end to win
As for permutations, I said I'll do it if time will allow it. If games will be really long, it would be infeasible to run all 24 permutations. If they'll be short, it is an option. The rules text incorrectly states that there will be 16 games per round in that case (long games - if each script takes whole 15 seconds, the game can easily run for over an hour - that's only 60 game rounds. Considering that there will be at least 5 rounds, that would mean 5 days with 24 games/round, even if there will only be 4 players; I don't suppose you want to wait for weeks for results? |
