1) Red hat Linux versions are no longer available.. The last version being Red hat Linux 9.0. What is available is Red Hat Enterprise Linux. There is no free download as such. You have to buy it. Well the offer starts from $179.

2) There are lot of distributions avaialble. Slackware, Gentoo, SuSE, Caldera, Mandrake, Debian just to name few.
