Upgrading pear
Hi im new to pear and I need to find out how to get it to upgrade it.

When I type pear upgrade pear it gives an error saying it should be version 1.3.3 or higher to upgrade
pear upgrade-all doesnt seem to work either.

Read http://pear.php.net/, the needed commands are then in the middle of your screen.
