phpBB2

Greetings from Holland once again,

So I am looking at the wonderful folder phpBB2 that I downloaded onto my desktop thanks to the advice from other forum users.

However, what is the next step. How do I begin to add this to my site? If there is anyone willing to walk me through this I would deeply appreciate it. You say jump, and I will say how high. ;)

Any php master advice?

M3

RE: phpBB2

You can read the installation guide (readme.html) which is located in the docs directory after extracting the files.

RE: phpBB2

Just read over the documentation, and they probally have tech. support on the site, or at least some kind of tutorial.

RE: phpBB2

thanks- I guess I could of figured that out, but you know how it is-always making things difficult for oneself before the easiest remedy is taken. I will start with the guide.

Thanks- M3

Sorry I could not be more help, but I am not familiar with this board. I say if you can't get it to work make it yourself, but sometimes things just dont work out and you have to use someone elses.

RE: phpBB2

hey mmarkwick... Unzip the folder and upload it to your webspace, once it is uploaded, go to the images folder and CHMOD 777 the avatars directory... once that is done, go into phpmyAdmin or some similar proggie and create a database, call it phpbb or something like that... then go to where you installed the program... ex."www.yoursite.com/phpbb" You will see an installation screen, fill in all of the information required... a screen will come up asking you whether you want to automatically upload config.php or do it manually, do it manually, it is way less problematic, a download screen will pop up, save config.php somewhere on your desktop... upload it into your phpbb root directory (www.yoursite.com/phpbb). Then go to phpbb in your webspace, if you did that correctly, it should say, please delete the /install and /contrib directorys. go ahead and delete them, refresh the screen, and if all is done correctly, there is your new forum... phpbb.com forum is the place to go for customization... Hope that helps
