Which language is required to set up a web application?
I saw that most of the facebook applications are developed on php. facebookster.com/blog I also want to create a social networking application so i wanna know which language is suitable for social networking application PHP or DOT NET.

either will work. just depends on what you are comfortable with. If you know any programming languages, check and see if they have a web scripting language to go with it. there are quite a few, even more than just php and .net and all will do the same thing. This is primarily a PHP forum so you might some php biased results here.
Also, there are tons of pre-made scripts you can find at places like hotscripts.com that would work without having you spend tons of time writing your own app from scratch.
