uninstall and re-install php. its an easy process to install the programs. takes like 10 minutes. you can select things like the mysql extension (and mssql if you want) from the checklist in the installer and it will set it all up for you.

I think the problem is my apache-2..2.14.
Coz whenever I restart my apache I get this error pop-up Apache HTTP Server has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Probably you would know what could be the pop-up. Coz of this the apache abruptly stops. Even if I re-install it, on the browser I'm unable to see my phpinfo. All I could say is <?php phpinfo(); ?> Also I re-installed php with MSSQL extension, so now I have the mssql.dll in C:/php/ext. |

to install a php extension you don't need to do anything to apache other than restart it. you could try to reinstall apache or get a zip version and copy out the config file and add the php lines (to make apache process php files) to the end.
