installing php v4.3.1 ontop of v4.1.2

hi - can anyone help?

my web host provides me with an apache/mysql and php byundle that includes php v4.1.2.

i am currently playing around with a new content management app that requires php 4.3.1 or higher.

i am a novice, with little coding background....how do i install a newer version of php on top of the version that i have? i am running this on red hat linux v7.3 and apache 1.3.27

any help would be much appreciated !
