Is PHP a service
Hi Guys
I couldn't really be aby newer to PHP but i have just installed it on XP and have a question. I assume that PHP runs as a service but I could not find it in the list. Is this true and if so what is it called? Thanks Giles |

RE: Is PHP a service
Hey Roaders I just totally went through a crash course on getting PHP and APACHE installed on my computer.
PHP can either be installed as a service (module) on APACHE or on CGI (php.exe). If you are running IIS I don't really recommend it however the setup is much easier. Try installing Apache2, I found Apache very easy to install. Instructions for installing it as a service or run it through php.exe is your choice. If your just going to run scripts on your personal computer just to test them out then I suggest CGI (php.exe) for ease of use. I'm sure other people could explain this better but I just went through this and finally got it installed. |

RE: Is PHP a service
Thanks for that. Looks like I am running it as a.exe then. I did try getting PHP to run on apache 2 but couldn't find much info on getting it to run as PHP on apache 2 is still experimental from what I have read. I only want it to test code on my local machine so I just wanted something quick and easy to set up.
