newbie.. Please help

Hey guys...
I'm another newbie here and, I was following a tutorial about post-installation of mysql, php and apache.. I've done all the said configuration and copied a single php script to my html editor and I saved it as index.php then I moved the file to apache> htdocs. When I started my browser and checked "http://localhost/index.php" It says "file not found". I also restarted my apache but still I get the same results. Can anyone please help me... It would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks

Hmm, strange.

Do you get the same error for non-php files?

You'll hate me for this, but are sure you're placing it in the htdocs folder or, if you changed your DocumentRoot, are you putting it there? ;)

Not much I could think of...

What are OS are you on? What files are you using? There are very easy ways to solve this problem on a windows box.
