newbie problems

I have win ME and run Xitami web server for testing locally. It's fine with perl.
I downloaded both php 4.2.1 installer and zip for windows.
Installed the installer first, then the zip (not really knowing what i was doing..yes, I admit it).
When I run a script, I get a 404 error.
I edited the ini file as per instructions I got from the net ( well I think I did). Any thoughts as to what I should do to get php up and running?

well the simplest explanation is often the right one. are you sure you have the php files in a place the web server can read it? check the Xitami documentation for where that is supposed to be.
