PHP for absolute beginners
I am totally new to PHP, in fact I'm so new that I don't even know where to start. I know a little about constructing and using FileMaker Pro databases and have installed MySQL on my Mac powerbook.
What I'd really like to do is to be able to set up a simple online form or a guestbook/image gallery that is dynamic on my web site. Are there any PHP for dummies type resources out there that anyone can recommend. Regards, Rob (aka Lost in PHP) ;-) |

Would this book be better than the PHP 5 for Dummies one? Rob |

RE: PHP for absolute beginners
If you are going to program in PHP5, I would get that book, but it might be useful to get a book on MySQL if you plan to use that as well.

RE: PHP for absolute beginners
robcnz,
I am pretty new to PHP as well, and I've been cruising my way through "Learning PHP 5" from O'Reilly. Gentle learning curve and moderate exercises at the end of each chapter. |

RE: PHP for absolute beginners
Check out www.fmwebschool.com for FileMaker and PHP resources. FX.php 3.0 has just been released and can be downloaded for free from our website. Supports FileMaker 5-7.
