PHP freeze

I have a recurring problem with my php installation. Every so often, almost always when I open phpmyadmin, php hangs (the browser says 'opening page' indefinately). Once this happens, I cannot access any php page on my system (browser just sits there on 'opening page'), even if I reboot, stop and restart IIS, etc. The only way I can get past this problem is to remove php and reinstall it. Sometimes I can go a couple of weeks between problems, and other times as long as a couple of months.

I am running w2k with IIS 5.0, and mysql 3.23, phpmyadmin 2.3.3.pl1, and normally using IE 6.0.

Any thoughts on this?
