Problem installing PHP 4.2.3 configured for Apache

Ok I have Win XP HE. PHP version 4.2.3 and Apache version 1.3.3. When I install PHP it tells me that it can't configure Apache for me and that I will have to do it manually. I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I just shelled out $40 today for the book 'PHP Game Programming' so I can make some online games and I really need PHP and Apache to work. If you can help me, please do so and I will be eternally thankful. I really wanna get started on making an MMO. Thank you all for your time.

Check out the install.txt file in your php directory. It contains all necessary informations.
